About the department Public affairs work combines government relations, media communications, issue management, corporate and social responsibility, information dissemination and strategic communications advice to influence public policy, build and maintain a strong reputation across the globe.

About the position Working within an agile, international business environment you will be the responsible person in our affiliate in Austria for all Public Affairs related matters, as well as for developing and implementing own strategies and projects in the field of Public Relations and Communications including Media Work. In this role you will report directly to our Governmental Affairs Director and will work closely with all our business areas but with a high focus on our Obesity business. As our Public Relations Manager, you will develop and execute media relations strategies, seeking high-level placements in print, broadcast and online media but you will also:

  • Proactively work on issue management across all business areas andcorporate issues, with a focus on Obesity
  • Create story lines, write print and digital content, media releases andbriefing materials independently
  • Establish and cultivate a network of high-impact journalists relevant to Novo Nordisk
  • Design, plan and execute successful media campaigns, offline & online
  • Monitor and analyse media coverage and PR results but also seizeopportunities for media partnerships and advertising
  • Support the public affairs strategy and execution in Austria by supportingkey commercial objectives across the portfolio via national and regionalengagement
  • Support patient relations efforts at a national and regional level

Your qualifications


You have a Master’s degree in Public Relations, Communications orcomparable subjects (University, Fachhochschule, Post-Graduate)

  • Ideally you hold additional know-how from Medical, Health or NaturalSciences


  • You bring at least 5 years of relevant working experience in the field ofPublic Relations from other companies or agencies with you
  • You can show significant experience in building media relationships andmedia work


  • You have excellent German (on native level) and English language skillsin both written and spoken
  • You have excellent knowledge of the Austrian Media Landscape and youare already well connected through your various networks
  • You bring excellent verbal and written communication skills with you
  • You are confident in presenting complex content in an appealing andcomprehensible way
  • You have outstanding organisational and planning skills, as well as strongproject management skills and a proven track record of successful projectimplementation
  • You are strong in effectively and persuasively articulating complex issuesto stakeholders and lay audiences
